Spaces Left Over in Planning
Rochester Institute of Technology
One day charrette
October 2015
A collaboration between faculty and students at RIT and visiting faculty from Malmö University Malmö Sweden. The design challenge was to look at under used, left over and in between spaces in the area surrounding the abandoned section of the inner loop and the adjacent area. Participants then had to identify a site and to consider how it could be reintegrated into the fabric of the city and be activated by a user.
Bridging Neighborhoods
A one day design charrette with students from Rochester Institute of Technology and members of the community representing sectors 7, 8 and 10.
The design problem set forth on April 20, 2002 was to come up with an idea to visually, physically and/or conceptually link three diverse city neighborhoods (sector 7, 8 and 10) in the city of Rochester. The sites that were to be considered included the triangular wedge at Circle, Main and Goodman Streets, the railroad tracks, the green space and the surrounding building environment, as well as the people of the neighborhoods. Use/ non-use of the site was also a consideration.
